The two floor plans illustrate how the layout of a museum changed between 1998 and 2008. Overall, the museum was significantly redeveloped over the period, with expanded permanent exhibition space, new visitor facilities, and rearranged amenities, while the temporary exhibition room and the central ticket entrance remained in their original positions. In 1998, there were two separate permanent exhibition rooms located in the northwest and northeast corners. By 2008, these had been merged into a single large permanent exhibition space occupying the entire eastern side of the museum. The original garden in the central area was converted into a fountain area, with an added outdoor café seating zone adjacent to the existing café, which stayed in its position north of the centre. Other changes included the addition of a restaurant in the northwest corner, replacing the former northwestern permanent exhibition space. The original shop in the southeast was moved to the southwest corner, split into two shops alongside the relocated cloakroom, while toilets were repositioned next to the café. The temporary exhibition room and the central ticket/entrance hall remained unchanged throughout the decade.
